Today we’re going to talk about two different variations of a short form seen in Yang Style Tai Chi.
The term Yang Style refers to the lineage of where the form came from. This form has many expansive “yang” energetic qualities that balance with many yin movements to give your body complete energetic balance.
The first video is if Chen Man Ch’ing who’s family is credited for this style of form.
Chen Man Ch’ing – Traditional Yang Style Form
You’ll notice his movements are very subtle as most of his movements are entirely internal.
Here he is performing the traditional yang style form …
And I’ll be honest.
It’s kind of boring.
But it DOES show each traditional movement and it’s flow very smoothly.
(As it should be. I mean, it IS his family form after all!)
The second video is of my teacher Stephen Watson from Connecticut
Stephen Watson – Variation of Yang Style Form
A quick perspective on Stephe …
He’s a playful giant with the root of an oak tree.
He’s also hilarious.
Here in this video, Stephe is demonstrating the first third of the same form …
Only a slight variation of it.
He’s also playing around with martial applications in this demonstration to show how the energy flows.
Yet both born of the same simple motions.
I’ll add more later just wanted to get this started
